Verification Standards

What V.E.R.A. verifies.

V.E.R.A. verifies specific information and credentials. Each item is reviewed separately and displayed according to its own status.

Core Standard

A V.E.R.A. verification applies only to what was actually reviewed.

A business may have several credentials listed on its Trust Profile. Each credential receives its own review and status.

V.E.R.A. does not treat one verified item as proof that every claim made by the business is verified.

01

Identity

Identity verification begins with government-issued identification.

The applicant submits a driver’s license or another accepted government-issued identity document.

Reviewed Identity information needed to establish the applicant
Compared Relevant information used as the baseline for later records
Publicly shown Identity verification status only
Kept private Raw ID image and sensitive personal information
02

Business Registration

Business registration is checked against the claimed business identity.

Registration records can be reviewed to confirm that the business exists under the name and jurisdiction claimed by the applicant.

Legal business name

Registration or filing number when applicable

State or jurisdiction

Current registration status when available

03

Licenses

Licenses are reviewed according to the issuing authority.

Professional, occupational, contractor, trade, or other applicable licenses may be reviewed when the business claims to hold them.

License holder or business name

License number

Issuing authority

Status and expiration when available

04

Insurance

Insurance verification applies to the submitted policy information.

A certificate of insurance or other acceptable supporting record can be reviewed against the identity and business information already on file.

Named insured

Business name when listed

Insurer and policy information

Effective and expiration dates

Verification of insurance confirms the information reviewed at the time of verification. It does not guarantee future coverage or claim payment.
05

Bonds

Bond information is reviewed against the business record.

When a bond applies, the supporting record can be reviewed for the business name, issuing company, bond number, and applicable dates.

06

Certifications

Certifications are reviewed according to the organization that issued them.

Industry and professional certifications may be verified when an appropriate supporting record or issuing source is available.

Important

What “Verified” does not mean.

Not a workmanship guarantee

Verification does not guarantee the quality of future services.

Not a character guarantee

Verification is not a general statement about trustworthiness or character.

Not a safety guarantee

Verification does not guarantee that every future interaction will be safe.

Not permanent

Credentials can expire, change, be suspended, or require renewal.

Public Record

The Trust Profile is the current source of verification status.

A badge, screenshot, printed copy, or previously issued verification should not be treated as the current status by itself.
